the upper floor of villa eksternest has been taken over by a plague of intellectual garden gnomes, who have come pouring in from all over the world. the most recent have never been shown in public before. they are designed by rik delrue and dressed by a staggering number of different artists.


in between the gnomes, sculptress sandra de clerck's glass figures tell one story after another.


on the lower floor, nicole baert writes visual poems with two themed hat collections. the first collection is based on cremaster 5 (1977), a film by the american matthew barney made on location in Budapest, which is the setting for an existential tale of love and death, heaven and earth, male, female and androgyne. love sonnet (1994), a choreography by michèle anne de mey directed by thierry de mey, filmed in catalonia and an old tile factory in provence, is the point of departure for the second collection.
